About 4 months ago, I did a blog post titled,
"What were we thinking when we did Male Headers on the MSP430 LaunchPad?"
Although it stirred a great deal of conversation, some really neat things have come out in addition to the solutions suggested in the video/blog post.
I wanted to share some of the great alternatives people have come up with.
Ways to Adapt the Male Headers on your MSP430 LaunchPad for Breadboarding
From the original post:
- Using male to female jumper wires
- Using female to female jumper wires
- Adapting male headers to be female headers (using back to back female headers).
- Desoldering the headers
- making custom male to female jumper wires

Using "Horizontal Stabilizers"US Water Rockets sent in this neat video, Adding Horizontal Stabilizers to your MSP430 LaunchPad. I rather like this solution because it helps keep the LaunchPad more stable (the rubber feet periodically come off) |
Using Jumper's to adaptThis may be my favourite solution. macegr on twitter tweeted me a post using Jumper's as adapters. I tried them out on my LaunchPad and was pleased. The best part is that Jumpers can be found anywhere (the LaunchPad has a few on P1.0 and P1.6 that if you aren't using the LED's on board you can disconnect). To Buy Jumpers: DigiKey |
If there any additional that I left out, please feel free to share.
Thank you so much for everyone that let us know their solutions!
