Trey German, a C2000 applications engineer on the software team, is no stranger to making DIY with TI products. In fact, we’ve already showcased Trey’s talents when he built a Beverage Cooler Bluetooth Built-In Stereo Speaker System. But Trey hasn’t stopped there. His latest design is taking DIYing to new heights.

Trey created the InstaSpin QuadCopter after entering a recent TI employee Microcontroller BoosterPack Design Challenge. Basically, he said he wanted to see if the Launchpad could actually launch.

“What I wanted to do was really integrate all of the best parts of TI technology. So we have wireless, we have motor control and we have some of our analog groups doing the feedback for the motor control and the power electronics for the motor control,” said Trey.

The InstaSpin QuadCopter includes four Piccolo devices, a CC110L based radio module and a CC4000 based GPS module.

The TI MCU community voted on their three favorite entries and Trey was one of the winners.
