The sleigh of the future with DLP technology

The Sleigh of the Future will need all the latest in bright, full color, interactive, HD display to navigate through the winter skies in style while safe and well informed.   DLP technology can help achieve this with both wide field of view (WFOV) Head-Up Display (HUD) and curved free-form interactive touch display to make the sleigh experience safer and more fun.

DLP HUD can be used to project images of several things in the sleigh driver’s line of sight to keep him safe.   As a virtual image a few feet out in the night sky, our very important driver could get information about a variety of important factors, such as:

Weather issues like coming snow, ice or blizzard conditions.

  • Navigation arrows to the next destination and ultimately a landing/grid or guide for safely landing on rooftops or driveways.  Think of the current camera backup systems but reconfigured for sleigh landings.
  • Augmented reality HUD can offer collision alert warnings to keep the sleigh out of the path of birds, telephone wires, cell towers, tall buildings and pesky rooftop antennae.

DLP Interactive Display allows for a large curved interactive DLP display screen in any shape that hugs the sleek dash lines of our Sleigh of the Future and is completely configurable to the sleigh manufacturer’s design needs.  The interactive surface can be touch based or have tactile knobs that do not require wires behind the dash and can therefore be placed anywhere on the screen easily.  An infrared camera allows knobs to be placed anywhere and react to the movement around them.  As a bonus, the same camera means that touch capability is non-capacitive so the driver can interact with the surface while wearing gloves to keep warm.    This free form interactive display can provide the driver with a multitude of infotainment options including:

A screen app to pull up a list of family and friends and a copy of their wish list cross referenced with available gifts  in the sleigh

  • Navigation maps and suggested stop plan of travel
  • Configurable knobs on the interactive display surface to adjust volume and tuning for holiday music selections
  • Integrated phone app allowing the driver to use his gloved hand to dial the office to check on toy production and employee productivity

We think the Sleigh of The Future is greatly enhanced with these additions of DLP technology for safety, information and enjoyment.   If you’d like to learn more about how to get these features in your next sleigh, please visit our DLP automotive landing page to learn more.
