Two Harman devices featuring TI technology are 2014 honorees of the CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards. The annual awards recognize outstanding design and engineering in consumer electronics products. The Harman products with TI technology include the Harman Kardon Esquire wireless audio system and the JBL Flip 2 wireless portable speaker.
For both the Esquire and Flip 2, TI provided audio amplifiers and a variety of power management products to help deliver key features for the devices. TI technical sales representative Jack Tian said TI appointed dedicated audio and power field application engineers from the beginning of each product’s development, collaborating daily with the Harman acoustic, hardware and software teams. The partnership with Harman continued through the product’s life cycle as these devices moved out of Harman’s labs, into engineering prototypes and through mass production.
“The most important element of each product’s development is our relationship and strategic cooperation with Harman. We want Harman, and all customers, to always think of TI the first time they have a new idea for a product,” said Jack.
The TI products in the JBL Flip 2 include the TAS5709PHPR stereo audio amplifier, the LM3481MM/NOPB switching regulator, the bq24133RGYR battery charger, the LMR62014XMF/NOPB voltage regulator and the CSD17307Q5A NexFET MOSFET. The HK Esquire included the TAS5709PHPR, two LM3478MM/NOPB voltage regulators and the BQ24133RGYR battery charger.
